Cape Town - A well-known Strand beach has allegedly become the operating ground of a male prostitution ring and the local surfing community is outraged.

The Cape Argus reported that children on the beach were being sexually harassed by men.

The area worst affected was the beach between the Strand Surf Lifesaving Club and the miniature golf course.

Several people complained to reporters about the goings-on at the beach and the fact that children going to the beach were being approached by men seeking sex.

Men were apparently also frequently masturbating in front of children and sex acts were taking places in toilets and in bushes surrounding the beach.

The local lifesaving club was now helping police and the neighbourhood watch to address the issue.

Members of the public with any information have been urged to contact Strand police station on 021 854 9100.[news24]
